Forgive me, I'm bored this Saturday. The voting at [info]ship_manifesto managed to entertain me for about five minutes. Three of those minutes were spent torn over having to pick between Beauty/Beast vs Anatasia/Demetri. :( Yea, the boredom has gotten that bad. I did squee a bit over some of my old ships though (*cuddles Heero/Relena*).

Just letting y'all know that the Frame My Future Contest is over. I didn't win, but I appreciate the support so much(especially you [info]happywriter06!&hearts &hearts &hearts). The college was really supportive too. The head of the English Department called me in and demanded to know the details and how many times a person could vote, and the art Department was all over me about officially declaring my Art Studio minor, so that they could claim me as one of their own. *LMAO*

Anyway, I did win the Conozca Su Corazon contest. This award was significantly less, but I'm still immensely grateful for it. *does a dance*

In terms of LJ, I've got another writing journal floating around out there, but I'm not sure how long I'm gonna keep it. Mostly it's a semi-private sphere for me to break this awful writer's block and get the creative (and possibly pervy) juices going again. If there's anything significant over there, I'll be sure to post back to this journal though. :) I want to keep links of it off this journal though because RL friends and family know about this journal.

Oh! I'd almost forgot. I surprised myself and went to see Star Trek on my B-Day and whoa! I went into the movie in a horrible mood and came on smiling the rest of the evening.

*huggles Spock*

Speaking of things I forgot to add: I also recently got a hold of the Anansi Boys audiobook. Why am I the last person to know how freaking awesome Neal Gaiman is? And for that matter, how awesome Lenny Henry (the reader for the audio)is? I highly recommend this book, and the audio. Lenny Henry has got to be the master of accents. He did an accent that made me swear my Grenadian grandmother was in the room and then three seconds later, he pulls out the flawless British accent.

But, I'm rambling. So in conclusion:
:: Star Trek was Awesome.
:: Neal Gaiman is made of Awesome.
:: And Lenny Henry is King.

Umm..wow. Back in February I entered the Frame My Future contest. They had a Facebook page of all the entries and I was pretty sure there was no freaking way I could get into the top 24. There were some seriously beautiful pieces. I figured I should at least try since I wouldn't lose anything(but sleep) over it and I never know where the funds for my next semester are going to come from. But miracles upon miracles, I did make it into the top 24! Top 24 out of over 3,300 entries. That's...whoa. :D *dances*

Anyway, there's general voting going on. Everyone can vote. If y'all are interested, check out my piece here and vote. It's shamelessly based on my English/Grammar professor. I got the biggest case of hero-worship for her. *blushes*

*cough*

And in other news.....I GOT A DIGITAL TABLET!!!! It was finally delivered yesterday after I unwisely checked off the 5-9 business day delivery option. Because I'd only had like an hour of sleep and untouched class assignments, I didn't get to play on it as much as I would've liked to yesterday. I still won't really be able to break it in until tomorrow. *pout* Anyway, so far I love it. I bought the Genius Mousepen 8x6 for $50. When I did my initial research, reviews for it ranged from “it's absolutely awesome, I can't believe I'm so lucky to have found it” to “it's not named Wacom and the price isn't some obscene amount so it can't be good.” I definitely fall into that first category. ^_^ It's bigger than I thought it would be, but I can still fit in into my laptop carrying case. It operates smoothly for me. I'd used a Wacom Graphire in my Computer Graphics class for digital painting and the Genius, to me, feels pretty much the same, just without the cool eraser though. I'd been trying to draw my lineart directly onto Photoshop with only my touch pad and it was ridiculously frustrating. But just from yesterday's experimentation, I can see that getting way more easy.

The tablet also came with a trial version of Corel Painter. I've already gotten accustomed to painting/drawing in Photoshop CS3, so I'm not sure if a 30-day trial will be worth the huge learning curve that I'll have to go through.

Anyways, what all of this really means is...more fanart! *grins*

Has it really been that long since I've posted? Wow. It's been an interesting couple of months for me and things have finally come to a sort of lull.

I have been bitten with the Supernatural bug. Yea, yea. Cringe in teh fear, y'all. You really don't want to get between me and my 9pm deadline on Thursdays, LOL. Oh! And my obsession has gone as far as drawing the man whose babies I wanna have I wanna hug.

And I before I forget: have y'all been been over to [info]hd_fanart? The fest has been generating to seriously HAWT beautiful art. Check it out!

Clash
Pairing: Harry/Draco
Rating: R
AN: For [info]hd_100's prompt of battle.

It’s liquid power, sliding deep inside him like a lover’s thrust of tongue. It’s alive in his thumping pulse.

He ducks, hears the slice of metal gliding through air. Feels the thrill of the missed hit as his body absorbs the stabs of rocks when he rolls, shoots to his feet—fuck. Slice to the neck and god, he’s hard now.

Fingers slid down his collar and green eyes flash once before teeth sink into his lip- the flavor of painbloodlust fills his mouth.

“I win,” Potter growls, grins wide and slow. “Your turn to wear the cuffs tonight, lover.”

Hah. A year older and I don't feel it at all. *sneers at calendar*

I've been going insane with classes and to say I'll never be taking anymore weekend classes is a bit of an understatement. But at least I've just finished taking my last final twenty minutes ago. *whew* The summer is going to be super busy for me. I'll be keeping my current job and enduring the trip to Manhattan every weekend for my second job. I'll try not to let updates lapse so long apart anymore. *fingers crossed*

I've an H/D fan-art piece needing to be posted sometime within the next three or four days and a drabble or two as well. I'll probably be spending some quality time looking for some fodder for my seriously neglected icon journal for the next couple of hours. *dusts off icon journal*

:: First of all, let me disclaimer this: I have never understood the whole mafia movie craze. I've never seen any of the Godfathers and I yawn in the face of my father's and brother's ravings about the Sopranos. However, all of these commercials (well, one commercial that they kept on repeating in between CSI: Miami) on A&E are starting to sway me. Why? Well the entire commercial goes like this: black screen, talk about some travel tickets, dude kisses the other dude and then goes on to say he broke his heart. I know, it's completely out of context, but it's highly effective though. I'm actually considering watching it. And looking for all kinds of slash scenes.

:: After swearing to never braid my hair again by myself, I have broken said vow and put in some kinky twists. Atleast it didn't take an entire twelves hours this time around. -_-

:: (CapsLOCK warning) I'VE GOT MY CHECK AND AM ABSOLUTELY GOING TO SHOP 'TILL I DROP AND BY THAT I DON'T MEAN ACTUAL SHIT I NEED AND I WILL PROBABLY BE BROKE BEFORE THE NEXT PAYDAY.

*coughs*

Yay for getting the job! It's been fun so far, definitely, and it's been a great experience. Of course, I'm anxious for my paycheck, but it feels nice having a job I actually enjoy.

On the other hand, the whole taking five classes idea turned out not to be the brightest one out there. I'm withdrawing from one, because I like my GPA the way it is right now, and I enjoy that little Dean's List certificate thing they like to send in the mail.

My art class is driving me bat-shit, yet I'm still learning loads of stuff. I actually should be preparing for my portfolio midterm review that's due today, but, um, *cough* yea.

There's been a lot going on otherwise, personal shit that I've finally managed to deal with over the past month, (the ex is finally staying an ex). So, I'm prepared for more fandom involvement: new H/D crack fic that is practically begging to be written and a slew of art to be cranked out. (LOL, I've got about a hundred colored pencils I need to get rid of.)

WTF?

Dear Laptop of Mine,

Surely it hasn't come to this. I suppose I have been neglecting you somewhat. Preferring to smudge charcoal on my fingers instead of tapping away at your keyboard. Struggling to reconnect with past muses instead of fixing your internet issues. But really, WTF? How can it be an entire folder of line-art just disappears? Hm? Any answers? Thought not.

Ever since I'v signed up for this Drawing 2 course with my favorite professor, I've been trying to get back into the basic elements and working on my weakness (light and shadow pwns me all the time). It's amazing how much progress you can get by just taking a class and being in a rooom full of creative people and shuffling ideas and ways to improve. I still learned a lot although the first two classes were mostly assessment sessions and warnings (for those who had never taken an art class with this professor; LOL. I think a third of the class dropped the class once they realized how much work they'd have to put into it. *lmao*)

With my new job, the four other classes, plus the absolutely sexy final project for the Drawing class, this semester is sure to be um...interesting.

Ack!
I miss my stable 24/7, through-rain-snow-and-thunder internet. Gone are the days when I just rolled out of bed and 'bam!'-three pages up in a heart-beat. No longer can I spam my deviantart page. But I'm still working on that issue and while I had a minute here or there, I re-did my layout (courtesy of [info]minty_peach). I've also been playing around with photo-manipulations (default icon for example) and would have ventured into vector art, if not for the fact that GIMP isn't actually capable of producing vector-like images, apparently.

Anyway, quickie life update

:: Registered for five classes, (One Evening, Two Sunday classes) and OMFG, I might actually...ENJOY...a MATH course. *crosses fingers*
:: I've gotten hired for a tutoring job at my college. Of course, this could be exactly like the last dozen time I've been 'hired' and then shit just seemed to happen, but I'm hopeful.
:: My GPA is keeping me happy and distracting me from my Internet withdrawal symptoms (poutyness, boredom, often characterized by my bashing my head against any given flat surface)
:: Shopping will be the end of me. That and What Not to Wear
::And yea! My personal accomplishment for January was: Box braiding my entire head in braid extensions. (Yea, I know, it's probably only impressive to me. But still...*pumps fist in the air*
